The Department was established in the year 1964 with the UG program (B.E.in Civil Engineering) and is one of the oldest branches of RVCE. The department has been imparting quality education to meet the technological advancement and industrial requirements. The present intake for the undergraduate program is 120 and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU) Belagavi with an Autonomous status. The department started two PG programs under VTU in Structural Engineering and Highway Technology in the year 2006 and 2009 respectively with a total intake of 36 students. The department is also involved in research and development and is a recognized research centre under VTU. B.E in Civil Engineering program is accredited for three years in 2003, 2007 and for two years in 2013.
